RESIDENT SERVICES - “Inspiring the minds, spirits, and futures of San Antonio youth”

The Resident Service Program operates from various multi-family apartments owned by San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation. By providing education, recreation and social services to low-income families, the Resident Service Program strives to strengthen the personal growth and development of at-risk youth and their families. This is accomplished through a comprehensive continuum of services, which includes a needs assessment, leisure education, recreational programming and social services.

The community learning centers provide a variety of children and family services through various programs and locations including:

Educational Programs: Homework help and tutoring assistance

Recreational Programs: Structured enrichment activities, arts & crafts, and field trips

Computer Lab: Internet access, educational games, and tutoring programs

Information & Referral: Crisis intervention and social services

Summer Program: Offers daily recreation for resident children during the summer months in expansion of year round programs.

Conflict Resolution: Children learn skills to positively resolve conflict in their lives, through affirmation, cooperation, communication and other conflict resolution skills.

Peer Mediation: Conflict resolution graduates learn skills to help them teach their peers how to solve conflict in a non-violent manner.
